Sooo.. currently have 168 Salomon XDR 80Ti's, I don't particularly like them, they're heavy and when I start to get some speed up they don't half chatter. I'm getting more and more interested in going off piste/skiing through trees and trying to throw myself off any natural bump/hump/person on the floor/log/whatever I can to get some air.
I've just measured myself, and I'm about 5'7 (and a half... ? an inch or so shorter than I thought I was, as my wife would attest to as well, no doubt). Hard to do it but I think around 171cm-ish  70Kg too.
I tested the Line Vision 98s at the Ski test just gone and loved them. I'm set on buying a pair. Andy from the ski test has a pair available in 179s - which is the length I tested at the ski test, but I can't help but think they're bit long for me (and also, no doubt I'll need _another_ new ski bag  ).
They also come in a 172, which means no new bag - a bit more agility through the trees, and probably a bit more fun in terms of trying to jump off random things, but at the sacrifice of stability at speed (I'm one of those awkward wants it all type people). They have a double rocker, so the contact length is obviously going to be shorter, and they're a much softer ski than my current ones, so I know they'll not be as stable at the speed I like to ski on... however, they felt a LOT more fun, and I think that's what I want more. Looking through various online guides, for what I deem my skill level to be, they point to around 170-ish.. My heart is edging towards the 179s as I can save a couple of quid, but my head says that I'm getting older and although I want to bomb down runs etc... falling down hurts more now 
Wise folks, is there any other insight I need to take onboard before I make my decision?

Hehe thanks Scarlet, I was wondering if you'd reply with that advice, reading your other replies on other similar threads..
(probably should have mentioned I've just spent the entire day reading various threads of the same ilk!)

Well... I do play ice hockey 
Could save myself some cash and just take my skates!

Another vote for the 179 - given you want to emphasise Off Piste. As far as I know, they aren't a stiff ski, so shouldn't be a handful.

I'd say 179 too. I'm 176cm and my all mountain skis are 179 with my fat skis 185.

@marksymoo, Just as an aside, you surprise me when you say that you find the XDR's heavy. I bought them for exactly the opposite reason.
