Maybe equipment but putting it up here for input.
As I'm due new tyres anyway and "might" if the stars align etc etc end up driving out for any skiing I get to do this year I'm shopping around for some decent all seasons - Goodyear Vector or Michelin Crossclimate type. Anyone got any deals or coupon codes at any of the online tyre places that I shoudl consider before pulling the trigger - I know there is a Michelin rebate thing this month but its not huge on my R16 size.

Have you looked at the foreign sites trading in UK. I used Tyre Leader who are German a couple of times. Far more choice and their prices were much lower although exchange rates may wipe this out.

Though the lead in price on Tyreleader is lower by the time you've added in fitting (which isn't a flat rate for their network) it's pretty much a wash with the consolidators who offer a fitted price.

I have been looking at some tyre replacements as well. Kwik Fit are offering 10% off two or more Continental TS860 which for my polo works out about £65 per corner including mobile fitting and that is comparable to Blackcircles prices. I was about to hit the commit button but then got depressed again about the likelihood of driving in the Alps this winter. Current set of tyres have 5mm depth so that will do me for the sunny south of the UK and I will revisit if the lockdowns are released

@Claude B, possibly true of some mid tier brands like Kleber and Nexen but when the gap to a well tested preium is only £10 or less per corner....

@Dave of the Marmottes, you could have a look at camskill tyres (cumbria) they normally have some pretty good deals on I've just got a new set of vredestein quatrac pro's and they were 40 quid a corner cheaper than anywhere else
that was including delivery as well, for fitting i just use the local mobile guy round the corner from me 40/50 quid fitted and balanced.

Just going through the motions and I'm finding Mytyres to be best priced in most cases and as usual by far the biggest range. However, I have 255 front and 285 rear and it looks like I'll end up getting the rears from Camskill and the fronts from Mytyres unless one of them wants to price match. Doing it that way is saving me nearly £200 on Pirelli W240 SottoZeros so worth shopping around if you have different sizes front/rear. Pirelli will be a departure for me for winters - always Nokian or Vredestein previously and never disappointed.
Looked at Black Circles but hardly any choice and frankly a bit pricey.
Always used Mytyres in the past, always spot on perfect. Damn those Germans and their fabulous efficiency.

@Pruman The 'W240' seems to refer to various different types of Pirelli Winter tyres. I've used the Winter Sottozero™ Serie-II and the Winter Sottozero™ S3, on a BMW 330d xDrive Touring (AWD) and my current M235i Convertible respectively. The Serie-II is a slightly warmer-biased version and the S3 is definitely snow-biased but also strong on resistance to aquaplaning. Both of them have been very good in the Swiss snow and in more temperate, wet UK winters. I'd say it doesn't matter a lot which one you have, but I like the S3 for my convertible because it's RWD and 330BHP, and even with modern traction electronics can be a lot to handle in the wet, so the anti-aquaplaning is welcome. Conversely, the Serie-II is probably a bit more comfortable in those transitional autumn/spring phases, albeit the difference is not huge. I'm get close to concluding I'll snipe a deal on Goodyear Vectors. Undecided whether that means I really need the extra cost for Gen 3 model or Gen 2 will be more than adequate.

For winter shoes - the model number is less important than the production year. Production date is usually marked with for numbers - the first two indicate the week (01 to 53) while the last two indicate the year of production (18 would be for 2018, 20 for 2020, etc). The fresher the better. Tyre do change with age, getting harder, losing properties useful in winter driving

If you have a Costco card & a store near you - I paid £116 per boot fully fitted for Vector 2nd gen.
Was the cheapest I could find in Midlands for me.
Feel excellent in the wet - not had a chance to use them in worst conditions just yet. Decided to use them as all year round hoops.

We have used those Maxxis AP2's on several cars 14", 15", 16" and 17" wheels. Very impressed with them and on the 16's got up the 21 bends to ADH early this year, snow on the road all the way. All on diesel front wheel drive vehicles, in the case of the 17's a fairly powerful Estate Car that is often fully loaded or with a trailer, or both  No problem with summer use and handling is fine, probably wear down a bit quicker than the likes of Michelin but then we change them often and use fresh in the winter, swap back to the last seasons for the summer etc.
Interestingly Maxxis now have a full winter, Premitra WP6, that achieves A rating in the wet for the 14" size, so we are trying them on the little estate car, that is used used as a van basically.

I can personally vouch for Michelin Cross climate. Legal as a winter in Germany and the Alpine countries. You get good prices from My Tyres. Used them in snow with good traction also good on cold wet Northern England winter roads. Did some research before I bought and they came out top in Auto Bild a respected German Motoring magazine a couple of years ago. They perform perfectly well in the Summer aswell.

We moved to Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen2 tyres a couple of years ago - couldn't believe how much quieter internally they were than Pirelli Cinturato P7 and Continental PremiumContact summer tyres, and they have worn much better than expected. Not tried the Gen3, but the G2 are brilliant.
Wouldn't touch Kwik-fit with a barge pole though - every time I've had to use them (puncture when travelling etc) over the years they've messed things up or simply not done work they claimed to have. Best example was of a tracking adjustment that didn't feel right - when I took it to a specialist they pointed out the bolts still had their factory sealant on and couldn't possibly have been adjusted. Going for the cheapest price is good, but fitting of tyres makes a huge difference to their comfort and lifespan - you need a good garage.

I'm a bit late to this thread but I purchased some Bridgestone "winters" for my van last year. I used Oponeo. www.oponeo.co.uk
IIRC they were shipped from Poland but arrived very quickly. There might have been a promotion on B'stones at the time but they were keenly priced.
In fact the tyre dealer who fitted them reckoned that he couldn't get them at the price I paid for them. They list the G/Year vectors you mention including in run-flat spec. Might be worth a look for comparison but bear in mind that the price doesn't include fitting charges.

Just so people can have the benefit of my research - Asda Tyres (fitted at one of the local tyre outfits within a few miles) ended up the cheapest on Goodyears, Kwik Fit on Michelins (with a free pair of bluetooth earbuds by redmption of dubious value). Obviously results may vary by tyre size.
