Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Josef Fischer, who built Fischer sports into a worldwide powerhouse has died aged 90. He took over the business in 1949 after the premature death of his father.
"We mourn for the last great leader of the Austrian ski industry. Honorary Councilor of Commerce, our boss and owner Josef “Pepi” Fischer passed away peacefully a few days before his 91st birthday. R.I.P"

His death follows that of Laurent Boix-Vives of Rossignol in June of this year.

So he would have been only 19 when he took over the business. That's remarkable.
When I was around that age I felt that Fischer was the embodiment of Austrian racing heritage and bought a pair of Fischer skis with my own money. I've still got a bit of brand loyalty but haven't got on great with their skis recently; although I did snap up a bargain par of ski trousers.
RIP
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Fischer have always made good skis particularly in the race arena - they just missed out on being on trend for the freeride/rocker revolution a bit that the like of
Blizzard
went all in on.

Sad news. Had a pair of 203cm RC4’s late 80’s, had the turning radius of a super-tanker but loved them, pink, orange and lime green! Not great in moguls!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

yes, he had to go back to business school for a year. His sister co-managed the business with him.
Their touring skis are not bad, as is the cross country stuff.
