Poster: A snowHead

Has any one tried these in the 165/170 sizes, I'm around 72kg and am torn between the 2 sizes, I'm advanced not quite expert and prefer short turns
Salomons size guide would put me on 175 to 180 which is going to be way to big

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I think you would be fine on the 170....though you should also get away with the 165, as it's a reasonably stiff, advanced/expert ski - but looking at the Salomon website, the turn radius of the 165 is the same as the 170.
So, my suggestion would be the 170.
This is a de-tuned Race Ski with a versatile sidecut, so you should have a ball.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi,
Which size did you get in the end?
I'm 175/63kg, hesitating between 170 and 175 ...

FWIW I'm a similar weight and my choice would be the 170 - certainly no longer, unless you got the chance to try the 2 lengths back to back.
Welcome to the Forum, btw.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I am 5’7”, and 76 kg. I am an advanced skier, but not expert. Male.
I have the Salomon X-Blast 165 cm, and have skied them for two seasons. They are a really fantastic pair of skis, easily manoeuvrable, but also totally solid when you are going at speed.
I have always naturally preferred a shorter ski, they just work better for me. And as the Solomon X-blast is quite a heavy ski, you don’t need the extra length for more stability.
But I am honestly not sure of the difference between the 165 cm and the 170 cm. I never tried them both, and I’m not sure I would be able to tell the difference if I didn’t know. But saying all of that, I always err on the side of a shorter ski.
But if you are quite taller than me, then as you lean forwards, your centre of gravity/mass will be further forward than mine, and that could lead towards a longer ski being better for you.
Enjoy!
