OK then, has anyone skied in La Polsa? If so, what's it like, I'm thinking of suggesting it for a school ski trip (years 8 and 9). Would it be suitable - it certainly seems that school trips are its speciality.
If you haven't been but have heard stuff about it, what sort of stuff have you heard?

Never heard of it! Who goes there *(tour operator) and where is it, roughly? I'm not saying that becuase it isn;t known to the british market it isn;t any good, but bear in mind that if the resort is not used to british preople then not many of the locals may speak english. that might be an issue, or it might be viewed as a plus point - teching the kids a foreign language

Hi
I stopped a week in Polsa two years ago. Normally wouldnt have done but friend of a friend runs hotel there. There is literally no apres ski. 2 hotels, one hire shop/gift shop and one restaurant. Desolate in peak season. It only ever gets busy 11am till 2pm weeknds.
There is very little to do outside of the hotel , the nearest town being about 40 mins drive away.
The skiing is pretty limited, mainly begginers but over towards San valentino (linked) thers a couple of black runs. These are blacks and not Italian balcks mind you.
The blues are open motorways and very cruisable with a great begginers area.
Personally if you want to ski, eat and drink in hotel, play video games at night and generally entertain yourself, then for a begginer it affords stunning scenery and deserted slopes. If you want anything else then Id look elsewhere.
One big plus - Silly prices. 1 a pint on the mountain, 40p for a coffee.

sounds just the place for a school trip! You wouldn't have to spend all your time dragging them out of the town bars at night and little risk of them being mown down by boy racers during the day...

La Polsa is linked to another (very) small resort called San Valentino - this wasd the place of my first skiing venture, a school trip way back in the early eighties.
It is a small area and I would say ideal for school parties. One day I will go back for nostalgia.

Thats right, Defintaly no speed merchants and loads of easy pistes. One of the links to San Valentino was a single seater chair lift. Defintely ex tractor material but due for replacement in 2005 so probably ok now.
San Valentino is a liunked resort but effectivelyt its so close its the same resort, San Valentino is really two hotels and a restaurant, Great resort for beginners though.

roger1000, all I remember of San Valentino was the hotel next to the main drag lift (can't remember it's name), then there was a small ice rink, a caravan park and a shop/supermarket. Have you been recently ?
