Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Wax help

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi guys,

I have something out of left field that i was hoping some of you could assist me and my 9 year old son with.

First off i wanna say that we do ski but is no way do we consider ourselves very good at it. However my son is an ice hockey hockey goalie and its in this area that we are looking for some suggestions or opinions.

We recently upgraded his goalie pads, they are heavier and he dont slide as quickly as his previous model. These are warrior G5 pads and are made with some sort of synthetic leather.

I've read that ski wax could help dramatically with being able to slide much quicker on the ice. i also saw a video where someone used yellow toko paraffin based which looked like a crayon and she colored it on and said it really worked well but i have no clue what model it was. The ice temp conditions are between -2 and -5 degrees Celsius.

Any suggestions on what product could work best?

You could try a barrier (IE some glove waterproofing) then some Zardoz on top.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Why not try some cheap candle wax first.

Ski wax is temperature specific, so just go for one that matches the temperature of the ice. It shouldn't matter much which make or price range.
