Hi, looking to take family (kids aged 11 and 9) skiing next Easter. Considering Arc 1950 (went two years ago and loved it) or Val Thorens. Concerned about snow reliability w/c 3rd April in Les Arcs. Kids are blue run skiers currently. Which resort would you pick? Also any views on accommodation in Val Thorens? We loved the Arc 1950 apartments (Raddison Blu 2 bed).
Finally - how is the drive up to Val Thorens? Kids coped with the Les Arc one, but slightly prone to travel sickness.

Drive up from moutiers takes around 45 minutes depending on whether you get caught behind a bus or lorry-unless you have a local number plate, the opportunities for overtaking are minimal. Lots of bends to begin with but then opens out.

3rd of April is not late at all for the high altitude French resorts.
After a full winter of snow, there will be no problems with cover at Les Arcs, with skiing still available to the lowest parts of the ski area.
Similarly, most of the 3 Vallees pistes will still be open if you were to go for Val Thorens.
Naturally, south facing runs at lower altitudes may well be soft and slushy (especially later in the day) but will still, in the main, be open.

No worries with there being enough snow in Les Arcs. I would consider looking at Arc 1800 (maybe EdenArc) for Easter to make the most of it's aspect, and as a result, better late afternoon/evening sunshine which disappears earlier in the 2000 bowl.

There is very little to choose between the two resorts at that time of year. Both are high, snow sure, ski-in ski out and have plenty of blue and easy red pistes. Our family alternates between VT, Les Arcs and Tignes for Easter and you can't go wrong with any of them.
The drive up to VT is a twisty 45 minutes and I would hate to think this put you off trying it.
Two points - I would consider. Firstly if you have not been to VT I would go to try it. Secondly the pistes in VT all converge on the village which is handy for lunch or if someone gets tired and wants to go back to the apartment.
At that time of year there is also lots of good accommodation available in both resorts so you can search to find one that suits you on price and standard.

And the skiing is great with Pretty much all their pistes above the village at 2200 m. Lots of north facing slopes which is useful at that time of year. We’ve skied over the Easter holidays there for the last six years and never had either a lack of snow or poor quality. Even when Lea Menuires has looked pretty bare driving past it. The extra 400 m altitude and north aspect makes a big difference.
Lots of ski in out accommodation. Only thing we got nervous about with young children were a number of major bottlenecks when skiing through the resort itself and some pretty reckless skiing by younger clientele which the resort attracts. Pleun Sud piste in particular.
