Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Got a great late season deal on 19/20 4RNT Renegades (@122mm under foot) with ST Rotation 12 bindings.

I already have a 120mm Marker Kingpin crampon (fits fine in the Dynafit bindings) that provides about a new-ski-edge's (2-3mm?) worth of clearance on either side of the ski (the effective internal width of the 120mm crampon is 4-6mm wider than the stated width as far as I can tell). I'm unfortunately on a Mac and unable to post pictures here, but its a fairly tight fit. I'm a bit concerned about catching a crampon edge on the ski if the crampon was to bend under force.

Would you run the 120mm's or bite the bullet and grab a 130mm crampon?

PS: Yes, I know. Chances of using crampons on a pow / Ren day are slim at best. But better safe than sorry.

@Ash S Mart, the conditions you’ll be using that setup in make it highly unlikely you’ll end up bending a crampon, so as @spyderjon says, have at it

@ spyderjon and @KenX: Appreciated, thanks. Crampon is fairly burly and should hold up fine re. bending. I'll borrow a 130mm crampon to compare clearance vs 120mm - but will try the latter a few days in the Lyngen Alps next weekend. Current conditions and forecast -> crampons will stay in my pack!

@Ash S Mart, do not try to bend the crampon - they're anodised aluminium so although very tough they're also brittle and if you can actually manage to bend them they'll likely snap. The clearance you have is idea. Going up a width applies additional torsional force on the toe binding which is already higher than usual due to the skis width.
