Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Stick on boot foam, please

Poster: A snowHead
Can anyone supply me with, or point me to a source of, really sticky / permanently-adhesive foam for reducing ankle/heel volume in snowboard boots (nylony fabric surface of inner boots)?
I have made up trial stick on pads with neoprene foam bought off EBay, and they work well but the adhesive is poor and they're peeling off every time that I remove the inners from the outers. (The green stuff which I have on my ski liners is very much the tougher!)
It needs to be reasonably thick: current neoprene (though compresses a little) is 6-7mm.
Thanks.

Try a local podiatrist. One of the mushette's friends dads is one and he had just the stuff for her boots.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Or stick the pads down with duct tape. Works well on my ski boot ankle filler pads.

Not seen Gorilla Tape. What’s the difference? Duct tape has always been pretty bullet proof for me. Wrapped round ski pole. Works on everything from pack, boots to ski pants (although doesn’t like being washed!)

Gorilla tape is much stickier and will go through the washing machine. Duck tape used to be very good but they seem to have reduced the 'fabric' content to make it more rippable. Even Duck Ultimate is not as good as Gorilla IME.

If you want to store on a ski pole then Duck rippable would be better if you do not carry a knife.

Gorilla is just a branding of "Duct" tape type product.

Initially deeply sceptical of just another marketing and price elevation of an existing product, I was surprised to see that their quality control and materials do appear to match their claims.

We even use the narrow band rolls as rim tape on cycle wheels as its it's sufficiently impermeable, and durable to use for tubeless tire applications. Quite impressive.

Saying that, there are some huge differences in duct tapes with just as many poor products as decent and not always clear what you are buying.

As cad99uk says, the adhesive used appears to be particularly durable.

NOT impressed with gorilla tape actually, seems too stiff and inflexible to mould round all contours to provide best adhesion. Best stuff I ever used before had thread running the whole length of the roll.

Not sure where you need to put the inserts but one option could be Sidas Tongue Inserts. I used these last season with some new Booster straps. Definitely had the desired affect. Certainly stayed stuck on as well.

Cheers all. Duck tape! Duh, why didn't I think of that!!! Worth a go, got loads of rolls of it, good old fashioned old teeth-proof stuff too. Laughing

Rippability is a key feature for me. Makes it so easy to use. Will look out for gorilla tape next season
