Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Six weeks in Mayrhofen

A couple of us are looking to spend six weeks in Mayrhofen next winter, probably February into March to catch the start of the bouldering coming into condition.

We are probably looking for somewhere where we can cook and either do washing or is handy for a launderette.


Does any one have any recommendations or tips?
We’ve been there plenty over the years but now we are retired we are looking to do an extended trip.

Will you have a car? Mayrhofen is a nice town but I prefer the skiing in Kaltenbach or Zell, so I’d look in and around these towns for an apartment. I had a couple of weeks in an apartment in Stumm a few years ago and I thought that was a great base, village had a few bars and restaurants and was only 5 mins drive to Kaltenbach gondolas.

Hi, we were in the Zillertal valley just last week, looking to find accommodation for a longer stay early 2021. We went into the tourist offices and they ‘posted’ our request to their accommodation providers and we then received a list of offers. We’ve booked something for Kaltenbach - their web site is www.best-of-Zillertal.at
You could search for the other tourist offices for the valley and ask them if they do a similar service. Good luck. Very Happy
