Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow patches in Scotland

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
There is a wonderful Facebook group called Snow Patches in Scotland.
People log, photograph, measure, track and generally obsess about summer snow patches that remain on Scottish mountains in the summer months. It's wonderful - I recommend you join.

A couple of observations this year - There are loads of snow patches - hundreds, and much bigger than previous years.
Snow patch chasers seem to have a lot more time on their hands than in previous years making for great coverage of the coverage.

@cameronphillips2000, I have flagged this group up before, agree its wonderful and also addictive, more and more people are joining the group with many putting up some great photos.
@GreenDay, I think Sphinx is doing alright, try these links one for the Facebook page, they will probably nag you to log in but ignore it, the other link is for the July survey results on dropbox, hope they work

Scotland had a real glacier, around 4000ft, up until the 1700s.

Global warming melted it.

There is a (tiny) permanent snowfield left today in central Scotland, called The Sphinx, in the Cairngorms.

Some July 2020 skiing pix, at Ben Nevis, in the Scotland thread here.
