*NITRAM*, I had a microsleep problem a few years ago. It never happened to me skiing though (too much adrenaline coursing through the veins?). I had a battery of medical tests but the only tentative diagnosis was some form of post-viral syndrome. Thankfully I seem to have "grown out of it" anyway.

*NITRAM*, not skiing, but have fallen asleep as both pillion passenger (for some minutes) and actually riding a motorcycle (for split seconds only).
I could list some of the other places that I have fallen asleep, but the list would probably be long enough to send everyone else to sleep .

Ray Zorro, Well remembered!
Ever tempted to ride again? (With apologies for side-tracking this thread)
OT - I sometimes snooze on lifts but never whilst actually skiing

I think I experienced something like this "microsleep" when I was about 14. I was cycling to work and I crashed into a stationary Reliant Robin. The only damage was to my knee, and once we got the Robin the right way up again .... (no, just kidding about that bit). Never fallen asleep while skiing though, although I swear I've seen people skiing like they were in a coma.

P.S. For non-UK readers, a Reliant Robin was a nasty plastic 3-wheeled "car"; often a subject of derision.

I once fell asleep walking home from the pub in Reading. I think I walked about ten yards into a road sign which woke me up. Luckily it was about 2:30am and the only witness was a lorry driver.

I often had mirco sleeps while doing long hours in the army, no harm( they do you good infact) except when driving and that was very scary. I have seen people fall asleep while walking along.

I've got a friend who often falls asleep standing up in the pub, he never spills his pint or falls over and he does wake occasionally to take a sup or 2 but it's a most strange sight.

I did manage microsleeps in lectures..... usually pharmacology.... sometimes organic chemistry.....
I think it may have been related to having about 4 hours sleep in a week when the interstate students came to visit.....
and a few early morning drinking sessions....
not a problem now I think I got "old"

yeah I had a string of problems when I went through the first year or so of chronic fatigue syndrome..... a few close calls while driving had me pretty scared. Luckily all were on empty roads and I veered slightly left due to road being designed that way so just ended up waking up near the edge of the road pavement - I love sealed shoulder roads with decent shoulders for the speed they are zoned at...
I spent months after that trying to con people in to driving me everywhere...
