Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Chamonix family lift pass

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We’re a family of 5 going to Chamonix, 2 kids under 15, 2 adults and our eldest who is 18 but looks very young. Could we get the free 3rd free child pass for her or do they check ID when picking up tickets? I know it’s dodgy but it’s hell of a saving.

I don't know what they do now, but about 9 years ago we had a family of 4, and one of our son's friends. I went up to the office, passports in hand, and in my best French asked for 'a family of 4 plus an extra youth'. The lady gave me the 5th pass at family rate as well, and I kept my mouth shut! However, I seem to remember that I did have to show the passports, so she checked ages but not that we were all the same family.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

One year in Austria my son had a youth pass 16/18. He was stopped a few times getting on lifts throughout the week and had to produce his passport to prove his age.

Cheers. Possibly best to be safe and get the correct passes.

Well, they need to keep a tight rein to make up for the rampant tax evasion. Laughing

No ID check on collection in my experience.

I know a lot of people who take all 4 kids’ tickets (same price as 2 kids) because that way the kids get an extra go on the luge (1 go per day per pass).

@snowdave, that’s very useful information. I think I may go for that. Cheers.
