Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

British skier killed in L2A today

A young Brit skier killed here today. On one of the Fée pistes, hit a barrier. It was very icy when I was higher a bit earlier. Fée can be difficult in those conditions. I'd moved lower to much more pleasant snow and hadn't noticed anything RIP Crying or Very sad

Sad news. RIP

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10884317/british-skier-died-alps/

Just before Christmas in St Anton a young British lad skied past me then caught an edge and flew into a wooden fence. Had to dial 140 and get a helicopter rescue for him. Looked like a broken arm, collarbone or shoulder. He was a in a lot of pain. It could have been a lot worse though if he had broken his neck.

@Claude B, I see that is the 2nd fatal accident involving barriers in Isere. I am trying to think of seeing a barrier by Fee that would cause that. IIRC, there is only netting. Any thoughts on that? The Fee red has a couple of spots which make it one of the harder reds in normal conditions - when icy I agree that it can be dodgy. Even so, the skier was very unlucky. Thoughts with those close to them.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@achilles, there is a barrier to the right hand side around the middle of the run. I'll take a look tomorrow.

That is L2A piste grading all over and why some of us love it and others hate it.

A sad accident, would it be possible for someone to amend the thread title as the lad wasn't killed, he died (sorry not usually that pedantic but the two are very different)

Skied down there today. There are two Fée red pistes with wooden barriers down one side. The one leading to the restaurant now has padding at the end so I suspect it was there. He was staying at UCPA. A mate works there and he's British but fluent french speaking and was dealing with the police.

Hmm... maybe not helping themselves in a wrongful death type lawsuit if they've put the padding on after the event

Tragic, I hope the family can take some comfort at some point from knowing he was doing something he loved.
