Going soon for first time. Any advice on best of everything please. Are the various areas well linked or do you need a bus?

Was there for three days pre Christmas and didn't need a bus at all. If you end up at the bottom of the wrong run at the end of the day it was only a 10 min max walk back to the other side of the village.
We rented ski/boards since we were only there for three days from Olimpionico Sport 2 and booked ahead of time for a discount, skis were good, edges on my board could have been sharper.
Food and drink was on the expensive side compared to Austria, probably cheaper than France. Pizza was always cheap though.
Mountain self service food was very poor compared to Austria, it seemed like they wanted you to go into the served restaurants.
Apri ski bars/tents were totally dead when we were there since it was so quite, but we went to a couple of pubs in the evenings and found that this one under our hotel was the best/busiest.

We ate here two nights, reasonable price, good food and fast service Ristorante Le Roi.
Here once, Ristorante Antico Focolare, good but more expensive, but served a large salad, totally dry and had no dressings on offer, wouldn't rush back.
Here once, to placate our foodie (who also does all the organising), well overpriced and tiny portion sizes, Hotel Chalet del Sogno.

Massive lift linked area
Nearby Pinzolo quieter pistes , there is a lift which takes a long time (20 min) linking MDC and Pinz, as a result Pinzolo quieter pistes
We found the mountain food good apart from the big one at the top of Grooste, best was ( a bit from MDC) refugio Solander, which is top of the Daolosa lift (see map)
The sking between MDC and Daolosa is nice

@skilegs, Went there for the first time last year based on recommendations from people I'd skied with elsewhere. Really liked it and am going back in a few weeks. In answer to your question, I'd say it is fairly well connected as far as the main area and Folgarida Marilleva is concerned. Pinzolo a bit more of a hike and maybe only marginally worth going to. We were on half board so can't recommend evening restaurants. We had good lunches and I will try and remember names of places we visited. Make sure you go Folgarida early on in your wek as there are some wonderful runs there especially #1 black down to 1300m.

Without doubt our favourite resort.
If you're staying near the village centre then you won't need the bus.
For apres Bar Suisse or the Hungry Wolf.
Stube is good later in the evening.
Like DCG we've only done half board so don't know about restaurants in town. Everywhere we've eaten on the mountain has been good.
The links are good, no problem getting between areas and even if you cock it up at the end of the day it's at worst a short walk across the park.
Plenty of great red and blue cruising and a few blacks.
Most of the black pistes are fairly tame, the exception being the lower half of the Schumacher which is pretty steep.
Best to avoid blue piste 66 unless you enjoy poling.....

Spinale.
Great food. Nice pool, sauna, steam room.
10 paces to the Spinale lift.
Even had a doorman on the ski room door when we were there last year.

Hi looking at going here on 12th March but worried about snow conditions - have only ever skied in France so no idea what to expect
Where would you recommend in March that’s within 3 hours of. Bergamo?

Mid March 2014 it dumped 7 metres just before we arrived.
Even if it doesn't snow it will still be cold enough for snow making. The snow making is so good in Madonna, and most of the Dolomites, that natural snow doesn't seem to improve the pistes. Just makes things prettier.

We’ve stayed at Chalet del Brenta a couple of times and will be there again at the start of Feb.
Nice rooms, great food, good ski and boot storage, fairly upmarket but with an informal atmosphere, friendly staff and a complimentary shuttle bus which runs on demand from the lifts opening until 4:30 ish in the afternoon.
The only potential downside is that it is a walk to the nearest lift, about 500m to Spinale and the town centre a bit further. However we always used the hotel bus when we had skis and never needed to walk even when running a bit late and quite enjoy the walk into town after a days skiing. The bus is handy as it will take you to/from town so can be used for picking up and dropping off if you’re hiring gear or just want to go shopping. Also they will run you to any of the 5 lifts around the town (inc the mid station for the Pinzolo lift) so it gives you great flexibility for the first run. There is a ski bus stop outside the hotel but we’ve never used it. Obviously there can be a short wait for the hotel bus at peak times.

Been to MdC twice in Early/mid March and had no issues. Sometimes the snow was a bit sticky on lower slopes but our routine was to do the last run from the top of Passo Groste at 2,500 m to the bottom of Spinale at 1,500 m in the town and never had any problems either with snow depth or conditions.

This is a timely thread as we are heading out 7th March for the first time.
Thanks all for the recommendations so far.
I’ve read that the piste to get over to Folgarida can be interesting for the nervous? I am thinking we will go check it out early in the week when our 3rd week friend is in lessons - but lots of cruisey pistes sounds perfect

There is one section of the red to Folgarida , cant rem the name. The last 200m are a bit steep, having said that its a very wide piste, so its not difficult
It can be a little taxing , for those returning to Folgarida from MDC later in the day, as it gets cut up.

seconded, coming back from Folgarida it's piste 10 on the map, going the other way it's 46. This is a bottle neck as it's the only way to get between Folgarida and MdC so sees a lot of traffic.

Due to go out on 22nd March. Been avidly following webcams and resort looked really busy in January. Is that really the case, or are the webcams just focussed on the hotspots and the crowds disperse away from the main lifts? Love to have some tips on quieter areas/runs, where bottlenecks are likely to occur and when to avoid certain runs. Looks like Pinzolo side is quieter and links over to Folgarida get pretty busy - is that right?

Pinzolo is quiet and scenery is fab, the reason it is quiet , is there is a 20 minute Gondola ride there
The links over to Folgarida are not busy
In my experience the Gondolas and lift that ascend directly from MDC can be busy
