Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I travelled from Nottingham to these...….http://www.rivingtonalpine.co.uk/.....can highly recommend. 2 hours from you should do. You need to book, which you can do on their website.

I had a bad experience at Lockwoods but had a great boot fit session at Snow and Rock in Brum. Their boot fitter only worked winters fitting boots and the rest of the year was a landscape gardener. No idea if he is still there though....

I've used Lockwoods several times. I bought my previous pair of alpine boots from them and after a few years had new liners. I've a pair of touring boots now that I bought from them. They also did something to my daughter's boots that I didn't even buy there, I cant for the life of me remember what now. All positive experiences.

@Andrew1234, do you knowingly have strange, bumpy, extra narrow or wide (etc) feet or have you had any particular problems with previous boots? Just asking to try and establish how much and what type of specialist fitting (or range or more specialist boots) you might need and how far it might or might not be worth you travelling accordingly (as far as your guess and an internet forum can determine it anyway!).
Can't speak for Lockwoods, but Solutions certainly has a very good rep and Rivi Alpine (at Chorley, M6) I have personally used and believe to be good. Snow & Rock to me have very mixed reputations (depends in the in shop fitter), so might be worth missing if it's your first pair.

 You know it makes sense.

@Andrew1234 It sounds as if you would certainly benefit from an expert, knowledgeable fitter.
You could always try phoning each of the suggested three shops on here and see what they say and recommend (obviously without seeing you, though), what they have in stock in your size (if you know it) and when they have fitting appointments available.
It's a real pain if you decide to travel a fair distance only to find that they don't have boots in which would suit you - an upside, therefore, to going more locally.
Good luck.

@Andrew1234, In terms of budget you could sacrifice some very expensive skiing time and try to get an appointment at Mountain Air in Verbier (who have a lady boot fitter with a very good reputation - but to my shame I can't remember her name Embarassed) however, given the poor exchange rate of the pound and your stated feet issues, I personally would try to get to Bicester (https://www.solutions4feet.com/) if at all possible (and if you can get an appointment) - given that I would prefer to ski when snow is in sight!
