Hi - I'd like to go on a singles or adult-only package ski trip this season.
Would be going with my usual skiing friend but just think it would be more fun if we can meet/ski with others for a change.
Looked up Solos holidays and a bit shocked by the cost.
Their cheapest trip to a relatively obscure Italian resort is £1150 and that's just the flight and half-board package.
Friend and I normally pay about £850-£900 for the same combination when we book our own hotel (not sharing a room).
Can anyone recommend any other operators that specialise in these trips?

Assuming you're looking for a "solo traveller", as opposed to a "singles" holiday and depending on your age HOFNAR.com might word for you. From £660 for a bed in a tripple room/£720 in a twin in the middle of Morzine, £60 for return transfers from Geneva, then flights of your choice on top. Best part is everyone else in the chalet is in the same boat, so if you want to do your own thing, fine, but if you want someone to ski with you'll usually find someone happy to join you.

I can vouch for Hofnar, you'll have a great time with them, just take a spare liver with you... Check out the Trip Advisor reviews and you'll see how highly regarded they are.
Another option is Cold Fusion, based in Morzine and Chamonix - haven't stayed with them but I understand it's a more regimented/tame affair.

Am actually going with a friend but just don't like sharing a room (and not nice to inflict myself on others in a shared room!).
And wanting to mingle with others as although friend and I get on, he doesn't ski as much as me, or drink as much as me (note - I'm not a big drinker but he doesn't drink at all!).
Solos (www.solosholidays.co.uk/ski#/holidays) would be fine but it's just so flipping pricey considering my mate and I normally pay around £50 a night for our own rooms in a hotel.
Hofnar sounds good but looks like just one place (Morzine) on offer.
Guess I'm looking for another organisation like Solos but who are a good couple of hundred pounds cheaper.
Perhaps they are the only organisation in this field, hence the high prices!

Book a Snoworks or Ski Club GB trip. Can usually get a share or single at a cost. Trips can be aimed at ski development. Snowhead trips fit the bill! I book single rooms early and join an off-piste group in resort - snoworks, Evo2, ESF Mountainsun Ltd will sell you a room with a reasonable supplement. UCPA!
Admittedly I go for the off-piste rather than the socialising and am happy to read a book or have a film on Ipad in the evening. Would never share a room with a stranger. I do separate sociable holidays with mates too.

@Neil Neige, Any catered chalet would seem to meet your needs (OK, you'd need to specify without ankle-biters): we did any number of them BC - before child - and we always found them hospitable, friendly, and accepting of people joining in with other groups or occupants.
(One trip, 4 of us turned up to find 8 Jehovah's Witnesses on a lads' do in the rest of the chalet bedrooms. They were a right good bunch - and not bad skiers, or drinkers - when you got to know them!)

Why do things still get marketed as "singles" holidays? Surely too much of an image of people desperately looking to tap off to properly appeal to the addressable market which for skiing is pretty big given non skiing partners, unreliable mates etc. Solo traveller desperates (STDs) are they are (probably) known in the trade...

 I have been on several holidays without a partner - and not sharing a room. I just pay a single supplement. I would never sign up for a "singles" holiday - even if my advanced age didn't fall foul of any of the required qualifications. A last minute catered chalet deal would seem to be ideal for the OP and his friend.

I've done plenty trips solo. I love them - first lift last lift, no waiting around. The mileage you can cover is vast and you'll no doubt improve your skiing.
If I am going solo, I'll book the flights and collect a large number of email addresses from accommodations in the areas of interest using google maps. I then email them all directly BCC asking what they have available for my dates and have always had success in finding nice accommodation at a good price.

"singles lines" at lifts are great if you are there at a busy period.
The only time I went to Vail I shared a chalet with a few people, one very alpha male boor, how I got through the week without punching him I don't know.
Now I'm married so it's more psychological warfare.
