Poster: A snowHead

What should one be wearing underneath their ski socks. I tend to just wear an ordinary pair of socks.
Is that right?

jb1970, as t-bar suggests, you shouldn't wear anything under ski socks. Modern ski boots should fit well enough and be warm that you don't need that extra padding. Generally it reduces closeness and precision of fit.

jb1970, only one pair of socks- if you wear inner socks several problems
1. can get blisters at point where the top of the inner sock ends on your shin (same with thermal leggings tucked into socks- cut ends off at low calf)
2. boots will not fit right.
Thro lo do good socks (but dear)

jb1970, Personally just thin pair of quality ski socks is fine. I find that with thick socks I end up cramp somewhere in the foot. I have never had cold feet with thin socks as modern boots with a custom fitted sole seem to do the trick as far keeping one's feet warm.

What everyone else says - and if you wear a second pair of socks, your feet may well get colder due to reduced circulation.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

snowbunny, Wigwam . . . . . . . . . . that liberty bodice of yours has long clips ... or your legs are only two foot long.

Aye, one pair. sweeeping generalisation warning: the better the skiier, the thinner the socks. beginners wear big thick socks, reasonably competent skiiers wear thorlos, bridgedales and the like, the top skiiers *who I've seen putting on socks and/or boots* wear socks so thin you can more or less see through them
