If possible get one with the vented face mask built in - it’s somewhere in my loft ready for this year but it’s great. So the bit that goes over the mouth and nose has little holes in it to let your exhale out!

For me I would only choose airhole having now used them. Can look a bit dumb with the hole but when in use they are brilliant.

Silkings silk balaclava from absolutesnow is great for keeping the wind off.
Rab ninja balaclava is good and warm and adaptable. Last year, in the second Aldi ski kit release (around January I think), there were some really good merinos balaclavas for about £7 (and good merino glove liners too)

Airhole do a wide range of styles and materials depending on what you need.
The hole helps prevent your goggles from steaming up too.

+1 on Decathlon and Aldi.
I find that both high stretch and fleece ones work well - but as others have said, ventilation holes which suit your particular Darth Vader impressions (and goggles, glasses etc) are very important.
In my last very cold and windy (and wet) adventures (Finland and Scotland) I actually favoured a fleece-lined 'buff' over my mouth & nose, with other thinner buffs around face, head and neck as required, plus helmet and goggles covering much of upper and side face and ears. Much more quick and easy adaptability, still surprisingly easy to breathe through.

Are you likely to be considering changing your goggles any time soon?
I bought Anon M3 with MFI (Magnetic Facemask Integration) at the end of the season before last from Snow & Rock, primarily for the ease of changing lenses, but with the added bonus of the balaclavas and neckwarmers that attach to them.
Find they're much more effective at covering my face, and much much easier to manoeuvre with my gloves or mitts on too.
