Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Eucherts / La Rosiere Ski Hire

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

We are staying in Les Eucherts, La Rosiere over Christmas and need ski hire equipment.

Can anyone advise from experience a good ski hire shop or any to avoid?

Any advice on the resort and restaurants on and off-piste would be great. We are a mix of low and high-level intermediates, so definitely no black runs.

Thank you Little Angel

Skiset Olympic Sports, in the main square in Le Eucherts we can recommend. Restaurants are plentiful - La Rosiere side tend to be a little cheaper. For snack lunch (do great burgers, slices of toast with different toppings, ‘tartines’ and good value we go to Bar du Relais at the bottom of the roc Noir chair in La Rosiere. On the mountain in La Rosiere we use Traversette for pizza, Antigel on Tetras run, or for a bowl of soup Plan du Repos (run like a canteen but the people are nice, so we go there for coffee or soup, but find the other food offerings not so good). Over in Italy for snack lunch Bar du Lac at the bottom of the San Picolo chair for soup and toasted sandwiches or fabulous hot chocolate, on the mountain over there Maison Carrel on the Arnouvaz area, or going the long way down route 7, Lo Riondet. Others will have recommendations - haven’t tried the Petite skier in La Thuile yet, but that is on our to do list.
A point to note, you do not have to take both drag lifts to get over to La Thuile - turn left at the top of the 1st and that takes you to the Col and lifts over to the main La Thuile area from there.
Went out for our first ski of this season this afternoon - had fun in the spring like snow.

All good recommendations, Bar du Relais Petit Saint Bernardo is always good for a snack lunch but it can get a little crowded, the restaurant du Relais Petit Saint Bernard is also good for a more substantial meal, in my experience the McKinley next door is worth avoiding. Le Traversette is good for snacks, lunches especially on sunny days, L'Ancolie at the far end of Les Eucherts is worth visiting, on sunny days their terrace has terrific views right along the Tarentaise valley, the Trois Ours in Les Eucherts Centre Commercial is great for snacks, crepes etc. after skiing. Maison Carrel is IMO the best mountain restaurant in La Thuile, but it's best to reserve a table if you want to eat inside, the Roxy on Pista 7 is famous for their hot chocolate and Bombardinos in the afternoon, Lo Riondet is always good but there are quite a few mountain restaurants in La Thuile that aren't worth stopping at. I would also recommend Olympic Sports for ski hire.
