Planning on a christmas ski trip 21st to 28th December or thereabouts. Any recommendations? My partner wants a lot of intermediate runs, blues and easy reds. Ideally not super busy. Last year we went to La Thuile/La Rosiere and like it but found the slow Poma link between the two a bit much.

La Plagne? Loads of intermediate runs and relatively snow sure (as snow sure as almost anywhere else at that time of year). It won't be super busy, but it won't be quiet either, maybe 20% busier than La Rosiere was for you last year.

@mugwa, Serre Chevalier is good, and has had quite a bit of snow fall already. Upgraded lifts so no slow Pomas to contend with, or at least they can be avoided quite easily.
Saalbach, Austria, lots of blues and easy reds. Christmassy village and lots of great mountain huts with great food. Good apres and its cheaper than France. Also great fast lifts, heated seats etc.

Slow pommas may be tedious, but they actually faster than slow chairs. If you fancy a fast Poma lift have a look at the end of this video from Chile

@Bergmeister, You peel off from the outside first. On the way up once I had the skier just inside me come across and simply knocked my ski off. I had to abandon the lift.

@mugwa, We were in La Rosiere last Christmas too. You do not need to do both drag lifts. From the top of the first you can ski down to lifts that will take you over to la Thuile.
We have also been to Montgenevre and Les Arcs in recent years at Christmas both of which are good for intermediate cruising.
I would say that Montgenevre was the quietest and it has already had a good fall of snow this year so I would suggest going there and staying at Le Napoleon apartments with pool spa etc in the centre of the village. You could spend a week there without needing to do a drag lift although there are a few (but there are chairlift alternatives)

Have a look at Sauze d'Oulx. Same ski area as Montgenevre (at the opposite end), but I much prefer it to Montgenevre for the amazing on-mountain food. Lovely Italian restaurants everywhere you look - woodfired pizza at lunchtime for 8 euros... They've got so much snow already, it will be lovely. We've skied there over new year twice and loved it (been 4 times altogether - it's really worth going back!)
Easy transfer from Turin - only an hour.
Your lift pass covers one day in Montgenevre, but there's more than enough to do in Sauze/Sansicario and Sestriere. There are other linked resorts too, but I haven't skied them.
And there aren't any drag lifts (apart from 1 in Sansicario)!
