My travel insurance through my bank covers off piste skiing if I am accompanied by a qualified guide at all times in areas the resort management consider to be safe. The guide part is straightforward however the wording of the second is very open to interpretation.
Going on a weeks touring in Japan. Day touring.
Anyone got any experience of insurance companies how they interpret the wording?
Tempted just to take the usual Snowcard Insurance to avoid no cover from my usual policy.
I think last year the group skinned up from the bottom when the lifts closed due to high winds.

@Petermc1, MPI cover all offpiste skiing, it's an option upgrade for ERV - there are a few threads around as mentioned above
