Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

San Sicario (Via Lattea)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We’ve skied the Via Lattea several times based in Sauze D’Oulx but this year are considering basing ourselves in San Sicario first week of March. We are thinking this opens up making better use of Montgenevre rather than the schlep there from Sauze, being more centrally located to the area.
Just wondering on anyone’s thoughts or experience of being based in SS, appreciate it looks very small and quiet but we’re not after busy night life anyways. As long as there are a couple of bars or somewhere to stroll to for a drink of an evening rather than just staying in our same hotel bar all week.
Any advice welcome and thanks in advance.

Edited after thought, we are considering a slightly cheaper alternative of HB in Passo Tonale or Val di Fassa but getting around the ski areas looks like harder work. Open to suggestions. Thanks

Thoughts... The San Sicario village isnt actually very near the ski lift, its half way between the intermediate and the top stop? So that's a bit of an issue, could be a tricky drive down to intermediate gondola stop every morning . Cesana might make a bit more sense - more there and short drive to the gondolas to go either way on the Via Lattea.

Sestriere is more central that Sauze in that its one fast lift up to Mt Fraiteve rather than 4 lifts and some skiing, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants and a change from Sauze.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Wouldn't a day trip to Serre Chevalier (Briancon) feasible from Cesana too, or not worth the extra effort to get there?

Val di Fassa with access to the Sella Ronda is in another league to Tonale and the Milky Way on the cheap imv.

you’d think I hadn’t thunk of that. If only life was a binary choice eh?
