Poster: A snowHead

Looks like being a snowmaggedon event on the roads of the Rhone Alpes with 30-40cm expected in some areas just in time for the evening commute. Road are already closed to HGVs but in Grenoble the snow line is still around 1100 meters.

A significant snow event is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2019 between 14:00 and 22:00. The areas concerned are more particularly the A43-A48 and A49 motorways. The snow will be associated with a high traffic home / work this Thursday in the evening between 17:00 and 19:00. Restrictions on the movement of heavy goods vehicles are also planned on these 3 axes.
Given the weather forecast and the time of precipitation, we strongly advise against taking the road between 14:00 and 20:00 on these highways, to anticipate your displacements or to postpone them.
If you must absolutely move, we recommend you to observe the greatest caution and the greatest vigilance:
have tires adapted to winter conditions (snow tires),
keep up to date with the latest developments and follow the safety tips issued by the government,
plan for minimum equipment in case of prolonged immobilization (warm clothing, food and drink),
during your journey, listen to the radio Autoroute INFO on 107.7 to know the state of the network in real time.
AREA attaches the utmost importance to the quality of its service and makes every effort to guarantee safety on the motorway network. All the teams are mobilized for this event and important human and material resources are deployed to anticipate and react to the bad weather conditions and the expected volume of traffic. |

Pfft - It's not a snowmaggedon unless it happens on a Saturday with a lot of Brit tourists travelling and the potential jeopardy of bunking a night in a sportshall or missing a flight

After a chaotic 24 hours on some of the region's roads, exasperated officials have repeated the need for snow tires + chains
Quote: |
It has been said and repeated but the message isn't getting through. It seems to me that it is not so complicated to say that when one arrives in a mountain area in winter, there may be snow and therefore must be equipped
