Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Claviere / Montgenevre Carre Neige?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Anyone have details on Carre Neige rescue insurance for Claviere / Montgenevre, is there a single insurance that can be added to the pass to cover Italy and France? The passes will be issued by the holiday company, can we take them to the office in Claviere first morning and get it added? TIA

That's a good question - one I'd like to know more about since I've had a chance to use insurance in Austria and Chamonix :/

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

For all the skiing accidents in Italy that I have seen the recovery was free of charge.

So, if I mess up a knee in Montgenevre, I should crawl/roll over to the Italian side? Check.

Not planning on adding Italy to the list of injury locations just to earn a trifecta.

Guessing when it comes to insurance is reckless at best. @rjs if you don't know the answer then best keep quiet!

The chaps from Vialattea kindly emailed me a link to the pdf, it covers the whole ski area including Montgenevre and also includes the 1k euro heli rescue in Montgenevre if required, the insurance must be added BEFORE the pass is first used and can be added at any ski pass office in the area.

Funny, I was looking at that, as well.

Given that insurance per ski pass is traditionally quite cheap, it is absolutely worth it. I had it on our pass in Chamonix and used the insurance to be "rescued" from the mountain below Mont Joly. The insurance company handled everything directly once I submitted my claim. Saved me several hundred Euros.

I always ski with a good travel policy and carre neige or equivalent, its a no brainer, circa 3 euros per day is worth it just for the rescue cover, seen too many people have to whip out the credit card for a few thousand then have to claim it back...

@woodpecker, I stand corrected, I will let the Guardia di Finanza people who did the recoveries know that they were wrong.
