Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Romantic weekend... fancy hotel recommendations

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
When I say fancy I'm thinking somewhere cool, ideally modern boutique style or otherwise charming high standard hotel. Pool is a must. Spa a bonus.

Can be flexible on destination but ideally reliable snow in late March.

Planning a long weekend with mrs 123 and want somewhere she'll happily retire to if her injured knee curtails any of our days on the snow.

Don't need a mega resort, just enough snow and good quality accomm.

Zermatt- if you can afford it- got for one of the better rooms here- https://www.matterhorn-focus.ch/- we’ve stayed there and it’s lovely.
Champoluc- https://www.hotelleriedemascognaz.com/en/. Not stayed there but it looks fab, and the skiing in Champoluc is excellent, and of course, there’s the food in Italy...Might be booked out already though.

No pool, no spa - but definitely recommended for a night or two as part of a Zermatt trip. Incredible location; fabulous Matterhorn and glacier views; and skiing all the way down to Zermatt (on deserted runs first thing) from the door.

The food is excellent too.

Whoops - schoolboy error - link omitted Embarassed https://gornergrat-kulm.ch/en/home-en/

@Adam123, if good quality food is important, can I suggest Le Chabichou in Courchevel 1850? I may be out of date but the restaurant was Michelin 2* when I was last there and simply wonderful. If the rest of the place is as good, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Romantic, classy, but ... costly Wink

P.s. no cars, everything comes up by cable car, or walking (there is a lit snowy trail to Lech)

P.p.s alot of caviar & expensive bubbles on menus of the various eateries there.....

Any of the Maison Sibuet hotels should be fabulous. I’ve stopped at the Avoriaz one and it was a superb week. No pool though, but the one in Val Thorens has one (or two).

Could be a chalet just so long as flexible enough to take us in on a Friday for 3 or 4 nights

We’ve stayed three times at https://www.excelsiorplanet.com/en/wellness-hotel-cervinia
Fabulous food, small pool, but great spa. Cervinia will be snow sure for late March.
Hotel staff delight in making your holiday brilliant, and did I mention the fabulous food!
Only suggestion is to make sure you have one of the recently refurbished rooms, because all are great but the new ones are even better.

How about a Swiss spa resort? As well as the usual in-the-mountains places, how about somewhere like the Bains de Saillon, between Martigny and Sion in the Valais. This is a thermal spa resort (but not outrageously expensive) in the valley. So really the focus is on the Wellness/spa/pool/water thing, then drive out to wherever is the best skiing at the time (Verbier, Crans-Montana, Nendaz, Diablerets, etc.).

https://www.bainsdesaillon.ch/en/

You can also hop on a train to do some shopping/sightseeing in Lausanne, or even Geneva. Or you could spend a last night somewhere glitzy in/near Geneva, like the Beau Rivages https://www.beau-rivage.ch/ (they sometimes do special packages or traveller rates). Take a look also at www.myswitzerland.com to see if there are any packages in the Geneva/Vaud/Valais that take your fancy.

For Scandi-cool take a look at Copperhill Mountain Lodge in Åre. Snowsure in late March. Though for a long weekend trip it may be a bit of a PITA as only easyjet fly direct London to Åre-Östersund on sundays (and not great times). Flight via Stockholm or Trondheim and hire car could be an option.

This jogged my memory about St Moritz. There're other hotels that looks quite 'fancy'! Kempinski, Carlton, Crystal, staffeni etc., mostly 'modern smart' hotels. I went in specifically checked out Stafeni Hotel for future stay. I would stay there if I go to St Moritz again. You don't even have to blow the budget to stretch for some of them.

St Moritz is a nice location too. Plenty to do when not skiing. Sledding, cross country skiing, (window?) shopping, go to some hot spring spa. Wait, did anyone say spa? Did I mention St Moritz is a spa town?

(I didn't open this thread yesterday because this is usually not my thing. I went to St Moritz for the skiing, actually the scenery and xc skiing. And I found the town quite lovely when I'm done skiing)

Eh?, It's give or take 2hrs from Zurich by train or car... What do you need for a weekend like, a half hour walk? Laughing
Done Davos/Klosters often for a short weekend, never mind a long one. It's fine.

@under a new name, Fair enough, 1hr is pretty good. Never been to Chamonix, don't know what the romance is like round there snowHead
Was in a hurry posting earlier, but it is also probably worth noting the hotel in Klosters is right across the train station, ski hire shop and main Gondola up to Parsenn, not even 5 mins walk.
