I've finally done something I've wanted to do for a number of years and booked Are in Sweden for next March (sorry, Switzerland, for forsaking you this time!)
Not much on this forum about the resort so any tips, pointers etc would be very much appreciated. Taking the night train sleeper from Stockholm as we're combining the skiing with a weekend in Stockholm.
Thanks, in advance.

LOTA - If you want to find any more, try using "duved" as a search term

Dobby, thanks, not staying in Duved but helpful, all the same.
Finding the small symbol over the A is not so easy on a UK keyboard!

@LOTA, I guessed you were not staying in Duved, but at least Duved comes up with some useful hits, whereas searching for "are" does not. UK keyboards are not the best for accented letters.

@LOTA, might be worth sending a pm to @Themasterpiece, IIRC he has an apartment in Åre so should be able to answer your questions.
I've only been one so far, last December for the ski test weekend when only a very few runs were open. Getting the night train up is very convenient though - I wish I could get to the Alps the same way!

@mgrolf sold the apartment, sadly. @LOTA happy to help if I can! Sleeper train is a great choice. You get the full day to ski.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Themasterpiece, Thank you, that's the plan - changing into our ski togs before we get off the train!
At present, I don't have many too questions. Booking everything has gone very smoothly.
I have the receipts for the lift-passes; do you know if I present them at a central office or lift station to get the passes themselves?
Thanks.

It depends, if you’ve book accommodation as well then you should get them when you pick up the keys.
If not, then you pick them up at any SkiStar Shop or ticket office.

@Spoon, @dobby, thanks, we're staying in a hotel so no keys to collect.
Skistar office it is!

I looked to going here last year when they had the cheap flights from Bristol but sadly all the accommodation was too expensive for a single.

@Cinsha, that has put me off in the past, too, but travelling as a pair makes it a lot more economic. Really looking forward to going now - the webcams are beginning to turn white!

@Cinsha, there's some small apartments out in Duved that are cheap. You'd have to bus over to Are though. @LOTA, I love looking at the webcams this time of year. Sometimes difficult to tell if the white stuff on the Hogzon camera is snow or cloud Would be a great place to ski in December if only more runs were open

What's the problem with typing Åre ? On a Windows system, hold down the ALT key and then on the numeric keypad enter 0197 and release all keys. Or use the Character Map application which allows you to select it from a map, or add a Swedish keyboard to your system configuration and then use the On-Screen Keyboard to click on it.

Thank you. I did pretty in depth searches, looking everywhere but really was focused on staying in Are. I seem to remember finding one hotel that had reasonable rates if you were a pair.
I can only assume the flights from Bristol with EasyJet were not popular as they disappeared after one season.
