Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What resort close to Venice?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Ryan air have got some cheap flights to Venice on the right dates.

Is there a resort I can get to without hiring a car? That's not too far away?

Don't mind small resorts and happy to ride at any level though we do have lower int snowboard in the group (though they are an adv skier)

Thanks.

@earl, there are transfer buses at weekends into the Dolomites. Resorts of Arabba, Alleghe etc all within a couple of hours.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Do you have a link? I went looking last night but couldn't find.

And I know nothing of the Italy resorts outside of the milky way. Can you recommend one?

Went from Venice to Cortina D'ampezzo with Flixbus a couple years ago. The bus departs from the airport.

A colleague went to Cortina D'ampezzo last season. I've looked at it too, as @gustavofgt says, flixbus run there, and Cortina also run their own service also I believe.

@earl, Cortina Express run frequent bus services from both Venice airports (Marco Polo and Treviso (that's the one Ryanair use which is actually slightly closer to the ski slopes) ) to Cortina and via Cortina to several other nearby resorts.

We used info@venicecab.com at last years birthday bash in Arabba

Treviso to Arabba was €210 each way and we were ferried in Mercedes minibuses door to door in less than 2 hours.

4 of us but could have fitted 6 even with luggage. So not much more expensive than transfer buses and far more convenient.

We went to Cortina from Venice last January. The gods things were....the scenary, the food, nice selection of hotels, the village is pretty. The bad stuff: the ski areas are small, you can ski each of the 3 Cortina areas in a couple of hours, and none of it is particularly challenging. It can be very crowded at weekends and the standard of skiing could be considered less than safe.
All is all I'd go for 2 ski days and no more.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
