He is now going to take the place of a true brit. I would be annoyed if I was on the cusp & lost my chance/spot to someone only competing for UK because they do not have a guaranteed US spot.

It could be long term good news for our snowsports athletes because it is clear policy that a sport gets funding when it delivers medals.
He is a strong medal prospect, if he delivers then the next generation gets more funding.
Win-win.

Agree that it does come across that he is doing this primarily so as not to compete with friends for a US place, which for me leaves a slightly unsavoury taste. But since he was born in Chelmsford and has a British passport I don't think you can claim he isn't a true brit.
