When your fiancée asks if you can spend one week of your honeymoon skiing, you know you chose right:-)
Since neither kolkie nor I had been to Argentina before, we picked Bariloche, for the combination of great skiing and beautiful sights. In hindsight, we were very lucky - conditions were below average at several other resorts in Chile and Argentina, and well above average in Bariloche.
We got to our hotel on the edge of Lago Nahuel Huapi late at night, and we were greeted by this sight when waking up:
The Cerro Catedral skiing area itself turned out to be superb. Not large by Euro standards (I’d say about 80 kms of runs mainly arranged in one large valley and on its sides) but fantastic views over the Andes, the steppe, Lago Nahuel Huapi and Lago Gutierrez.
Moreover, there’s lots of opportunity for touring and offpiste skiing in the adjoining valleys.
We booked Lucas Swieykowski, a Bariloche local, as guide. Besides being a superb skier (member of the Volkl freeride team amongst others), he was excellent overall - very friendly and adapted very well to our standard and skiing objectives.

Cerro is where I totally knocked myself out and in a fugue state had managed to get myself to a lodge and buy a hot choc before I "woke up"...that could have gone worse

@DB, Having been to Bariloche I can vouch that apres includes some absolutely first rate meat restaurants - as in grilled over an open fire and brought to your table on a sword and sliced off in an endless stream of "we bring the meat". Patagonian lamb, pampas beef, pork all superb.

Great pics. Loved skiing in Bariloche back for the 40 year B-day bash. Wife knew I had always wanted to ski on my birthday in July, so it was a great present. The mountain is very picturesque. So is the surrounding area. Patagonia is a beautiful part of the world. Everyone should make the trek down their once in their lives!

Argentina is on our to do list - so a few Qs if I may....
How did it work logistically? Did you fly in to somewhere near the skiing - or did you have a loooong commute from further afield?
Did you get to Buenos Aires?
Any other 'do-able' ski areas (however small) in the vicinity of Bariloche?

We flew to Buenos Aires, spent a couple of days there to see the city, and then took another flight to the Bariloche airport (about 2.5 hrs). From there we rented a car and stayed at a hotel on the Lake Nahuel Huapi (30-45 minutes drive from the airport depending on traffic), and we drove up to the Cerro Catedral ski resort each day (about 20-25 minutes' drive). The car was not absolutely necessary but made life a lot easier as the buses are crowded - in fact we took hitchhikers up and down the mountain almost every day. We could have stayed in the resort, of course, but we wanted a nicer hotel. (Next time we might stay in the resort).
Other ski areas in the neighbourhood: Villa la Angostura (Cerro Bayo) - 1.5 hrs away, and San Martin de los Andes (Chapelco ski centre) - 3h away. Both seemed interesting albeit smaller than Cerro Catedral, but we never got to go there, as we had enough offpiste terrain to keep us busy in Cerro Catedral.
