Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Self catering in Pila?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all

I'm planning a trip to Pila and wondered if anybody has any recommendations for decent 'close to slope' self catering accommodation? Trying to keep it cheap - ski back for lunch etc. Happy with a package too but can't seem to find any that are self catered.

Many thanks

We have stayed at Residence Les Fleurs http://www.residencelesfleurs.it in Gressan, which is the first gondola stop on the way up from Aosta. It’s about another 5 minutes in the gondola up to Pila and easy enough to get back at lunchtime (not sure that you can ski all the way back).

The apartment that we stayed in was huge but what I liked was that we could use their restaurant for breakfast or dinner if we so wished. There was also a small bar.

The owners were lovely and suggested that if we wanted to stay again (we will) to contact them directly as they can do a better rate than if you use one of the consolidator sites.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We stayed in smallish flat , I cant remember the name of the building but it is next to hotel Club 2000. Very very basic accommodation , but convenient location just couple of min walk to the slope

Very nice place and helpful owners. It is right on the piste just below Pila. There are 4 self catering apartments in a renovated large old chalet.
