Yesterday I got to ski at Timberline, on Mt. Hood in Oregon. I thought I'd summarize what's new:
Advance Reservation required, and the 500 available were gone in two minutes
Required to sign a release re coronavirus and related behaviors
Checkpoint on road restricting access to ski area to those with reservations
Parking lot had traffic cones indicating how and where to park so as to distance oneself
Masks required in the lodge and in lift lines
Most complied with masks except for teenagers and to be fair it is easy to forget (hot day)
Lift lines had distancing requirements and people complied
You could ride the (quad) chairs with people of your own group only, otherwise single
Due to distancing, lines look super long but of course aren't; I had 10 minutes max
In the unloading area it all fell apart, everybody just kinda forgot and stood there
Skiing itself was normal and still plenty fun enough
I do not feel self-quarantining is necessary and I believe most people who were there would agree
I will be keeping away from folks anyway, karma
I feel more at risk going to the grocery store
Nine hours driving for four hours skiing. I wouldn't do that in a normal season, but I had to achieve proper closure and I did. Fun day.

Not convinced many people will be spending a lot of hard earned to ski under those conditions. Given skiers are happy to attach a couple of planks to their feet and then hoon down the side of a steep mountain at 50 mph+, I can’t see how the additional risk of covid illness is much of an additional consideration to them, assuming under 65 and well.

This seems the strangest rule out of all of them. I'm pretty sure that transmission in carparks is quite far down the list.

Looks very smart.
Social distancing applies 100% of the time in 100% of all public situations.
Set the correct tone, right from the start.
Vehicles bunchup in carparks, people leapout the doors, close together, and breathe and cough everywhere, especially while huffing and puffing to get boots on.

What about accident and recovery?
Any special procedures for ski patrol and riders with snapped legs and blood aerosol pouring out their mouth?

@Whitegold As for patrol-related stuff, they said they preferred that only "skilled" skiers come (to minimize potential for accidents etc) and that they would perform only true emergency stuff for anyone with symptoms.

@Scarlet, that was my initial thought, but going through it I was reminded that it can get pretty jammed at day areas with everyone booting up and the parking jockeys packing us in like sardines. The cigarette smoke we smell while booting up came from somebody else's lungs, right? It was also t-shirt weather so folks were lingering rather than booting up in minimum time. It was nice. It obviously reduces parking capacity dramatically. Not a problem in any May, especially one with a pandemic. How this will work in what we hope is a normal season remains to be seen.

That’s surely a decision for piste patrol. If they think it is too high risk then resign from piste patrol. The only way it is no risk for piste patrol is if there are no skiers = no piste patrol needed anyway.

@DJL, a piste patrol friend died in an avalanche many years ago, quite an important event, one of the reasons behind widespread installation of gazex triggers, he had had the option despite all opinions of either going up the hill to blast an avalanche or resigning.
He had no other source of income. And no likelihood of finding anything during that season.
He went up the hill.
It's not so simple.

You're dead in that case. I think it would be fairly easy to arrange adequate PPE for that circumstance. What's your point?

@mountainaddict, working on a photo upload, I'm maybe halfway there. As for the protests (regarding the tendency of our police to shoot innocent African Americans), they are indeed justified. On the other hand, the looting by those taking advantage of the situation....I want to 86 'em! Just dropped off my wife's car for service, and there was not one single car inside or on the dealership lot due to them playing defense from the riots, smart. OK, enough urban drama, back to skiing.
