The Tour de France is paying Homage to Snowheads this year by having the two deciding stages at the site of the pre abs end of season bashes.
Check out glorious helicopter footage of you favourite pistes, views, hotels and bars over coming days. Live coverage on ITV4 abs Eurosport.
The cyclists are pretty awesome but the stars are, of course, the mountains.

And they are riding through the SoPi bash venue, Serre Chevalier too. I shall be tuned in at lunchtime.

Yup-looks like going to be pissing down on the way up to VT on Saturday..According to resort websites, the plan is to open the lifts over the top to and from Meribel to St Martin for spectators to come over, but then point out that they may be closed because of thunderstorms. I can't think how terrifying it would be to be on a chairlift in a deluge with an additional risk of lightening strikes... Eek!

Been there done that - with the thunder snow at least. Felt a tingle through the chair from a nearby strike. As all lifts were being closed patrol asked me to escort some people back the direct way to base as I knew the way, only problem is it was all off-piste and I had an old chap with a knee replacement. Lots of sideslipping a smooth path for him and some motivational talk from his mate.

It started hailing at 1650 in Tignes today, Le Tour is due to arrive between 1715 and 1735 tomorrow, that said the cloud was off the hills so helo shots may be still a player. Not sure if it has snowed up on the Glacier yet, taht would improve the look of the place!

I was hoping to see some of Monetier les Bains on the ITV4 highlights but unfortunately they picked it up from near the top of the Lauteret.

It's all gone a bit flat in Tignes. Led grenouilles are furious and say the whole stage should be annulled, can't imagine why!

Yeh right. Though it opens up the possibility of what might be a better way of closing things if they really were unhappy . Rerun the stage tomorrow and bump Val T to Sunday. Just bin off Paris because it's only interesting in the last 10 seconds and crown the podium in Val T. Result will probably still be the same as what we get tomorrow -JuJu's gone, Pinot's out and French tears fall for another year....

I suppose it's only appropriate they finished up at the "Knife and Fork"...
I wonder if they tried to claim their discount at the Wok?

Shame such much of the two stages was missed. Shows.the unpredictable nature of mountain weather though. Not.least, how localised the storms were. Always nice to see our favourite ski resorts in summer though. Shame Tignes didn't figure. They will.have paid a fortune to host a finish too.

Val d'Isere was a great party, only slightly dented by the stage being neutralised from Col de l'Iseran.
We were watching on the big screen at Coin des Amis and then strolled down to Hibou for the after party. A very enjoyable day.
We had thought about going up the the col but were glad we didn't when we saw a friend who said his girlfriend was stuck up there for 4 hours after the riders came through.
