Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Removing Telepeage mount from windscreen

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've just received a new telepeage doofer from APRR and they've changed the design since last time. They've helpfully included new mounts for it, but I'm struggling to get the old mount off the windscreen - it's stuck solid. Any suggestions on how to get it off without damaging the windscreen?

It will come off with a bit of muscle, try a bit of twist with your pull. I've always got them off eventually like that and they pop suddenly (had to do it 4 times in about 6 months last year). Alternately whilst you're pulling get someone to try and slide/tap the sticky stuff with a credit card to help loosen it.

If you can get some heat (carefully!) on it, that should soften the adhesive

You won't damage the windscreen - your fingernails will bend backwards long before that happens. Crying or Very sad

Bit of this and if you are really keen you can use dental floss like a cheese wire on the pad (seriously, that's how car nuts de-badge cars Shocked ) Any left over adhesive should roll up by rubbing with your fingers.

Try a hairdryer to soften the adhesive. This also works for removing old Swiss Vignettes.

@Ford, even the direct hreat doesn't remove the peage badge one. We had a new windscreen recently, but the new adhesive pad we've put on comes off all the time. The one that came with the clip on the other car is solid as a rock, no way could we shift it.

You could try some adhesive removal spray such as:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Solv-Sticky-Stuff-Remover-100/dp/B00M36W1XS/?tag=amz07b-21

These work well once you can get the fluid in place. You may need to prise up the edge of the foam with a blade so it starts to work in.

That reminds me I need to change the mount for mine.

I ordered extra mounts for mine last year so I could fit it to another car for a ski road trip and they didn't arrive in time. Then the next trip I did the tag battery started to fail so I got it changed/upgraded to the new top-europe tag and annoyingly that has a different mount.... so the extras I got (eventually) are no use.

I broke the little arm thingy off the old mount and just stuck the new one on top - works fine.
