Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Salomon X-Max X12 versus X14

 Poster: A snowHead

Hello, can anyone recommend whether I should buy the Salomon X-Max X12 or X14 skis? I've spoken with the Salomon team in the US and they weren't able to tell me how much the X14 weigh, which I think is the key differentiator. I'm 187 cm tall and therefore looking at the 175cm ski length. Any advice on these two skis would be welcome.

As far as I can tell from the Salomon US site there is very little difference, apart from the graphics and the binding. I get the impression that the x14 may be lighter.

From your links x14 = 6.110kg : x12 = 6.170kg

Hi @berneplayday welcome to the forum, sorry its more than two years since you posted this.

I tripped over your post as I was trying to find out a little about the X14, I've only heard of it a few minutes ago.
(Snowheads finds the answers)

I love the X12, I put it on par with the Head Magnum.
I've rented 12 days worth of X12 and it took me about 15 minutes to get very fond of them.

When I read review about it, saying that it was for technical experts only .. wow that made me even better.
I didn't realise I was a technical expert Smile

I'm trying to find an excuse not to buy a pair as they are down to £206 at one outlet, thats only a couple of weeks worth of rental.
You don't see them "pushed" on UK ski stores and the only downside is the very dull graphics, just black and white.

But after two years .. I wonder what you did buy in the end?
