Poster: A snowHead

Hi all just seen some sweet deals for "Mayrhofen ski area" post Christmas..... Seems there cheap because you stay in Hippach Ramsau and Finkenberg, wondered if anybody stayed in the places and whether it worked out ok.... Been to Mayrhofen before and it here seemed to be lots of ski busses going all. All over..... Does anyone know if they run late at all? As we would like a bit of après ski in the town before going back to where ever. Thanks all in advance

@kabby, it's a while since I've been in Finkenberg, but they run local buses from about 0800 to get you to the lift, and then until about 1800 to get you back to your accommodation. After that, you'll need to walk or get a taxi. As Finkenberg is built on the side of the hill and has about a 25-30 degree slope on most of the main road, walking isn't attractive carrying kit in at least one direction.
The postbus and dedicated ski buses run throughout the valley, and regularly. These follow a similar timetable, except that the postbus starts earlier, so you can get a bus from the entrance of the valley all the way up to Hintertux for free and every 15 minutes or so, although you will have to change buses at Mayrhofen, and it will stop at every lift in the valley as well as many other places in between, so expect a full valley trip to take about 45 minutes. From Hippach and Ramsau, the H line will take you to the Horbergbahn to access the slopes above Mayrhofen, but don't just blindly go there - the Zillertal Arena from Zell im Ziller is a hidden gem which UK tour operators don't cover, and the other areas in the valley are worth a visit as well.
Take a look at http://www.zillertal.at/en/winter/ski-board/ski-bus/ for all of the bus timetables.

stayed in hippach a few years ago . as people have said the busses don't run late . I think there is a train in to mayrhofen early evening but would have to be a taxi home . there are a couple of bars in hippach so we stay there.

Thanks for all the replies@ousekjarr, and especially the bus links, very helpful indeed. Seems like Ramsau and Hippach together and Finkenberg the other side of Mayrhofen..... We're not really party animals but like a few cold drinks après ski!!! And almost half the price of staying in Mayrhofen, think we might stretch to a few taxis home
Thanks to all the others who posted replies and advice, much appreciated
