Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Last week in Baqueira I saw for the first time a pair of tandem skis – long skis with two bindings on each, instructor in the front, student behind. Anyone know anything about these? Anyone tried them?

dunno about that, but an instructor I skied with in Flaine claimed to have descended Gers bowl on a tandem snowboard and only touched the snow about 5 times.
He was so mad I believe him.

, Someone here used to have a pair of stilt skis for demos! The guy's about 6'5 to start with!! I have seen tandem skis before - but not often and never with a tourist on the back!!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Saw a superb instructor night-time ski show in Obergurgl last week when tandem skis with 2 instructors aboard were part of the spectacle. Also in the show was an instructor skiing on stilts paired with another on his knees so that he looked 2 feet tall. The whole display under a cloudless sky with a full moon was an unforgettable experience....as indeed was the whole week as the skies were clear for 5 days.
