Poster: A snowHead

Welwyn Garden City dry ski slope is a rare and highly valuable sports facility. The ski slope is used extensively all year round by local schools, community groups, disability groups and ski race training camps coming from a wide catchment area. The ski slope is on a site, which also includes other community sports facilities (golf and football pitches), that Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has targeted for redevelopment to housing. |
There a petition here: https://www.change.org/p/protect-welwyn-ski-slope-from-local-council-s-plans-for-land-redevelopment
Please sign if you can..
(I'm not involved with Welwyn, but a few of the racers I know from Hemel do their plastic training there so thought I'd pass this on)

@Tubaski, done. Would you not get more traffic on here if posting on The Piste?
Hope you manage to save the slope. Some amount of talent comes from dry slopes in UK

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Signed. I can imagine how devastated I’d feel if ‘Trowse Mountain’ (my local dry slope) was similarly threatened...
My day job is to develop land for affordable housing, and in my neck of the woods I have spent two years getting permission to build on a derelict ex-laundry site that buried asbestos and dumped toxic chemicals in a pond - flattening successful recreation facilities should surely be nigh on impossible?

Is it still open?
I have recently moved to the area and would love to use it.

It is, in fact they are having an event on 28th Apr to support their campaign to keep it open.

And welcome to snowheads! (you might want to change your username to something that doesn't expose your email to the world...)
