hi everyone, prob wont get to do any more courses this season as am skiing aves famille at easter...... has anyone done any training courses in the summer on any of the glaciers..... am interested in the general piste performance and bumps....

I did WSSA in Cervinia last August.. found it very worthwhile. You only get a few hours a day and you are lapping one long run most of the time... but it means you have lots of time to focus on technique. It’s an inspiring place to be with lots of pros training.

I did a Snoworks summer ski course in Tignes a couple of years ago. I think it was a good snow year as the piste down the bottom of Vanoise chair were open (I’m not sure how unusual that is, but they were saying it’s very good).
We were on the funicular by 08:00 and finished at 12 or 1pm. The instruction is excellent, as many Snowheads will attest. I think it improved my skiing a lot. I’d love to do another one.
In the afternoon play tennis, walk in the mountains, join the group workouts etc.

@Themasterpiece, i know the snoworks guys well, and have done a few things with them...... they do mainly gates in the summer which is fun but am after some stuff on short radius and bumps with a view to doing the level 3 basi etc

@ajc2260626, Think I've said this before, but why not join your nearest Race Club. Most of them have a small adult (normally male) membership... that will get your piste shorts sorted at least

@ajc2260626, we dont do any glacier training any longer as the conditions typically dont allow for full days of training and it is a long way to go to get a few slushy runs in...
If you are in the southeast we do Moguls Clinics monthly at Hemel and we have a new Professional Development sessions if you are an L1 or L2 instructor.

@skimottaret, have done your moguls when i lived in london which was good fun, am in west yorks now though, to be honest dont really want to do anything in a fridge, taught in one over the winter part time and i prefer to be out in the mountains if poss.......
i like the idea of a couple of weeks with the snoworks guys so i may just wait till october instead and concentrate on the golf

@kitenski, sorry should have said we don't do summer glacier training any longer. our pre season tune up will defo be running, Nov isn't summer . We used to do a july trip but it got too difficult to plan as glacier opening became less certain each summer.
@ajc2260626, ahh wasn't sure where you were living... i hear you on being in the mountains. Currently in Tux but living with 50mph winds, rubbish vis and mounding windswept snow conditions... Golf in the summer sounds a fine plan and seeing Snoworks in the Autumn will do you a good turn. they do a great job on their courses.

@skimottaret, ah good to hear, that was a great trip when I did it!
@ajc2260626, West Yorks, the best you can do is indoor moguls, and make the most of them, try different lines each run, over, unders mixtures, air etc etc. Nowt like the mountains, but better than nowt!
