Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Finland - beginner + off piste?

Looking at options for Easter 2020 when kids will be old enough for first lessons (5 and 3 so smaller one only very short taster I expect). Wife also a beginner who'll be taking lessons. I'm an advanced skiier but looking mainly to do x-country dragging a baby in a tow pulk. Hence Finland seems a good option. Need activities away from slopes which it has. However, I'd like to grab a day or two myself going downhill as well as on the flat. Ideally that would involve some skinning and exploration off piste as my impression is there is nothing on piste for anything above intermediate level. Best options I can see seem to be Pyha and Yllas - the former seems to have the better backcountry options but bit concerned there is less to do around resort for little ones (and snow seems a bit dodgier come April). Anyone who knows these areas well I'd be keen to hear? Thanks
