We’ve had the first week of our Easter hols booked off incase we wanted to ski all year. For various reasons (brexit, late in season, and some other stuff) a couple of weeks ago we decided we’d give this year a miss and do something in this country instead. Now I’m doubting myself.
So, to help me decide one way or another, with the current snow conditions, if you were going to drive to the alps next weekend, where would you aim for? Would the closer resorts in France be ok? Flaine? Avoriaz?
Or shall I save all the hassle, book a caravan on the south coast and hope for some good weather? I’d also be interested in any recommendations for this option.

@breeze11, the SFaB is in that week so a lot of snowHeads are going there in Val Thorens. An extra apartment did appear for that, but don’t know if still available
A lot of snow has recently fallen - seeing some wonderful pictures from parts of Italy. I would be tempted to look around that, and the other snow falls.
Though we are going to Mayrhofen- which is forecast rain all next week... hmmm. I am hoping he forecast have the freezing level wrong.

But you go up in a gondola from Mayrhofen I believe? Could well be snowing once you get up the top.

@breeze11, pistes in Flaine have been in great condition over the last few weeks, despite the lack of fresh snow. The top up yesterday will only have improved things still further. I will be skiing Flaine tomorrow, and reporting back in the Grand Massif thread, if that helps your decision.

Thank you all! It’s great to know some of the easier to drive to areas are still looking good. I’ll have a look into it. Then I just need to get the family on board - how have I ended up with a family that I have to persuade to go skiing?!

Go high. Don’t mess around with low resorts in April. Even if there’s lots of snow Freeze thaw will quickly turn it to Ice/slush
