I'm not sure why Onnem's post deserved that. This part of the forum is there to allow people to post about snow conditions etc, that's what got posted. If the info might help someone decide to make a visit or not, that's what it is here for surely?

Lots of snow overnight for Dolomites. I was looking at the Arabba webcam this morning and I saw about three skiers in ten minutes! Quite sad really, all that power being used to run the lifts and nobody there to use them

Can't work out if it's Swiss or Italian. Different sources say either.

because whenever I see a post by Onnem it seems to be pimping some website or other. I assumed he works in social media marketing with a job to post links around the web.

For some parts of the Dolomites, the season finishes this weekend. Not really renowed for late season skiing due to lack of snow generally, thus I suspect few people go this late. WIll be great this weekend for the locals though!!

Just to clarify.
I'm a regular site user, don't work in marketing or social media, don' t have any affiliation to push. But I do come across news and pics that I think are relevant to snowheads.

Funny how the web site is in Italian

@Mike Pow, Italian is the language spoken in the Swiss canton of Ticino.
I think you knew that...but just in case...

Mike Pow, I didn't make it to Airolo but skied a couple of weeks ago in Andermatt with a guy who did a couple of days in Airolo in a prior year, and he spoke highly of it, especially for under the radar off piste skiing. He had done it before on a day trip from Andermatt. Apparently it's about a one hour train ride from there and sometimes has much different weather patterns than Andermatt because it's south of a high mountain range.

@mr. mike, is spot on. easy to get to from andermatt, free shuttle from the train to the lift, and some lovely easy to access offpiste. interesting food on the mountain, simple lifts, chilled out vibe. small town, quiet even at the weekend, some nice hotels and restaurants.

Oh well plan is the Aosta Refuge at 2781 on Monday and then spend the night before heading towards the Dent d'Hérens at 4,171 on the Swiss border subject to me sourcing a new sphincter
I'll let you know how I far I get but might sit the last 200m out and leave it to my more experienced mountaineering mates, and if it's too technical then the guide can only take one to the summit anyway.

Click on Tracks and then Dent Herens
Still awaiting final confirmation etc

@Mike Pow, my friend didn't comment on the prices, so can't offer insight. Nothing should be inferred from the lack of comment because the on-mountain part of skiing in the Alps is so much more reasonable than it is in the US that even Swiss prices for lifts, food and drink seem quite reasonable to us.

@Onnem, spied Bivio and that area above Savognin last week on a drive from Sedrun to St. Moritz. Even stopped for a coffee at Savognin. Both looked interesting. Looks like a veritable little ski safari could be had along that route. And one would assume that the beautifully named Cunter along that route would offer some entertainment as well.

Isn't there a cuntbahn near garmisch too? Have vague memory of getting out of the car for a photo beside the sign after a few on the plane over en route to somewhere with better snow but less funny names. Or was it cockbahn?
