I have a flight dropping me into Munich on 15th March. I have a tentative booking for a cheap hotel in Worgl which I'll get to via train from Munich.
Figured I could jump on a bus each morning to whichever local resort looked most favourable.
However, I'm open to suggestions for alternative ideas.
Is is easy to get from Worgl to local ski resorts? eg. Ski Welt
Is it easy to hire skis in Worgl?
Would I be better looking for accommodation in an alternative resort?
Would welcome all ideas - I'm quite a blue/red cruiser cracking up the miles if that helps - have really enjoyed Ischgl and St Anton in the past

Coincidentally, I took some photos of some bus timetables yesterday but can't post the images at the moment.
I'm at Westendorf and the bus timetables were to Kitzbuhl and to Worgl. Roughly, there is one an hour with journey times of 30-40 mins.

I would suggest that from 15th March onwards accommodation would be pretty cheap in the resorts (peak season ends on the 9th), certainly the lower ones in the east Tirol and Salzburgerland. Given that I am not sure the Wörgl is the best option, though it is easy to get to and has regular trains and buses to Skiwelt (Hopfgarten Berglift is the best stop), Kitzbühel and beyond. However I think you would take up a lot of your day simply travelling back and forth and Wörgl is not the most attractive place to stay.
Have you considered the Zillertal? Easy to get to on the train from Munich, get off at Jenbach - stop after Wörgl, and then take the Zillertalbahn. Various options in the valley from Fugen to Mayrhofen, sure it must be possible to find a cheap place to stay. There is also the glacier at the end of the valley which, if the current warm sunny weather persists as some forecasts suggest, could be a very attractive option mid March. A good bit of the skiing is also higher than Skiwelt etc which could be useful too.

I had a look at accomodation in Mayrhofen and I've certainly not found cheap yet but will keep looking (perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place.)

I stayed in St Johann a few year's ago and used the train for Kitzbuhel, Zell and bus for Steinplatte and Feiberbruun (and could have bussed to Ellmau for Ski Welt). We also had the advantage of the small but lovely local slopes on your door step. I went a week or two earlier than you are planning and the snow was fine but with this year's high levels it could work well for you, even at a relatively late stage of the season.
The village is very pleasant and well priced as well. I would far rather stay there than Worgl.

Did you find somewhere closer to the slopes to stay? Soll and Westendorf (or anywhere of the Ski Welt villages.. Schefffau, Ellmau etc ) would be more convenient. The Zillertal valley (Mayrhofen etc) is a little further away and slightly more expensive but probably has a more varied ski area (with the Hintertux glacier).
A lot of the accomodation in Westendorf is not on the main English booking sites (eg www.booking.com ). You should be able to find somwhere on https://www.kitzbueheler-alpen.com/en/ - I'm in Westendorf March 10th-17th and it's great for finding available places to stay in this area which are not advertised more widely.
