Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Family Christmas Les Arcs 1950 -package or DIY??

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,
This is my first post so apologies if I get things wrong!
We are looking to go to Les Arcs 1950 for Christmas - 2 adults & 3 young teenagers. We have previously travelled with Crystal self catering & stayed at Le Village 1950/Prince Des Cimes & ideally want to stay there again
Looking at prices however, we could go catered accommodation for what Crystal are charging for a self-catered Christmas!
So my questions are:
1. How easy would it be to do the trip DIY?
2. When do Dec flights tend to go on sale?
3. Average transfer costs from Chambrey/Geneva to Les Arcs

Any recommend companies for Les Arcs accommodation please? Looking at Skibeat for catered or Powderbeds for DIY as possibilities NehNeh
Many many thanks!

Easyjet Christmas flights are released in April.

Check shared transfer sites like altibus for transfer prices probably something like £50 per person

1) very easy! Hold Accommodation if possible. Book Flights. Book held accommodation.

2) Easyjet Dec schedule are on sale in April
Just google other airline name & on sale dates. Major Airlines like BA are 11 months in advance.

3) As there is 5 of you, it is probably going to be cheaper to rent a car. Your looking at around £45+ per person each way otherwise.

Easy DIY. But transfer costs not far off cost of flights. I'm not clear what you are looking for. The accommodation you named or alternative offerings? Resort website a good place to start.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thank you - we have quotes for accommodation just trying to work out ease & cost of flights, transfers etc to decide if cheaper to book package through Skibeat or accommodation only & the rest DIY.

@clarkey321, or get the train to Bourg from London (or our preference, change in Paris) - cheaper than flights plus transfer. Or Fly Geneva and get the train from there...

We booked Arc 1950 le village with Ski Collection including the travel by Eurostar to Bourg St Maurice. They also have a self drive option including the Eurotunnel flexi plus ticket. I doubt their prices are out for next year yet but there is usually a 10% early booking discount when the prices came out. It definitely worked out cheaper than Crystal when we last looked into it and we were given an apartment with a good outlook. The apartment was also a proper two bed rather than a one bed with sofabed.

 You know it makes sense.

We have done this twice once driving and once using the snow train booking apartment through Chalets Direct.
The year we were driving there was very little snow at Christmas and we decided not to go and the owner of the apartment agreed to let us transfer to the following year as did the hotel in Moûtiers we had booked for for an overnight stay and the Eurostar crossing. Very Happy

Not sure what happened to the PIN with the links. They are a little out of date now, but you can find them using this link. They should all still work. You can also find many of them on the first page of this thread. Hope this helps.
