Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cheapish action camera for kids?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We are going skiing this half term and my 8yr old son has asked for a gro pro type camera to make skiing videos... I am considering buying him one (potentially to use as incentive/bribe) but don’t want to break the bank ... need something cheapish but sturdy as he falls a lot and not particularly careful. I obviously would only let him use it when he skis with us, not during his lessons. Any advice/recommendations?

We have a Gopro Hero 4 and an SJCam, says a lot for the SJ that the kids aren't bothered which of them gets which camera. [url=https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Action-Cameras/SJCAM-SJ4000-Wi-Fi-Camera-Black/B075V7PFWM/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1549471748&sr=8-17&keywords=sjcam%5D%5B%2Furl&tag=amz07b-21]

I took some footage with my sons Akaso EK7000 on a recent trip and it came out v well in terms of lighting/focus. Main problem was chest mounting makes you feel a bit nauseous when watching back!
Also the batteries didn't cope with the cold v well when in chest mount from leaving home and up the lifts. Best was to keep camera in warm pocket until I was ready to film

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@MHskier, thank you. I think batteries durability is a factor... but will have a look

Sportpursuit are doing a AEE 4k Action Camera action camera for £29.99, looks decent enough.

The go-pro cameras are always being updated so you can get used older models like the go-pro 3&4 for reasonable prices on ebay. I have a go-pro3 that was a hand me down from my son when he got a newer model for Christmas a couple of years ago and it works fine. You can often get all the mounts and other accessories included in the deal this way too, and if has few scratches when you get it, you won't get so worried when it gets a few more after some falls, though they are really tough. The kind of fall that it takes to break these cameras is likely to be breaking your bones first !

Ok, looks like it worth looking on eBay then .. I don’t mind if it is not in perfect condition as long as it still works fine

I have a GoPro but was introduced to Apeman last year and it is awesome. 4K camera with all the attachments if you buy the right package off Amazon. Almost the same as a GoPro, great quality BUT £50 instead of a few hundred. Been skiing and scuba diving with it and the footage is great
