Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiworld cancel ski/board currier service

Poster: A snowHead
Hi all

I was wondering if anyone is experiencing problems with Ski World's "luxury luggage service"?

We booked a catered chalet trip (leaving 2/2/19) via agent (Ski Line) with Ski World as the operator. Whilst booking we were told Ski World offered a luxury baggage currier service. In short instead of flying with ski/board bags, a currier would pick your bag up a week before departure and it would be delivered to your chalet ready for your arrival, same again for the return leg. The quoted weight limit was 30kg (multiple boards one bag...yes please) all for a cost of £39. This would be fulfilled by Direct Luggage Services. You can imagine we all snapped this offer up and paid.

13 days before departure we receive an email from the agent stating this service is longer available....

Options include flying with bags, assuming the airline has room at an increased cost of £60 per bag (not withstanding we'd need more bags at lower weight!)
Hire gear - not really given we all have high end snowboard kit including multiple boards
Using another luggage currier - most of whom are quoting £140 per bag

Tell Ski Line you expect them to honour the original price paid for ski carriage, guarantee you bag space on the plane and give you a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience. How they get this from Ski World is up to them. They've creamed their commission - tiem for them to work for it

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Agree Ski Line have an obligation to fulfil what you have paid for (unless there was some sort of valid get-out clause). But that doesn't necessarily mean getting the baggage on the plane with you; they could just book another courier to collect it from you on Saturday and deliver it to your chalet (and return).

Loss of bargain law may apply.
Ski world should at the very least fund any increase in cost.
Spoken to abta or atol?

It's looking like Ski Line are working with Ski World to get the bags booked on the flight (Jet 2)

I'm giving them a chance to sort it before going to ABTA or ATOL.

Just need confirmation this won't cost us anything and perhaps some extra for the added inconvenience

The only mention I can find of "Direct Luggage Services" are a failing website and a company address where the directors also run a restaurant and some building/construction businesses. So it could have been worse - they might have picked them up but delivered them either late or not at all Sad

In your situation I think I would happily put up with a bit of inconvenience, in the knowledge that you will now have your boards with you in the resort!

Same here but an awful lot of other people would see this as a chance to make something.

While I'm not the type of person who expect something for nothing this inconvenience is extending to taking two cars to the airport instead of one (more cost) and one member of the group will now have to get two trains carrying luggage plus board bag (as opposed to not carrying board bag) in short we were sold a service and that service has not bee fulfilled.

ask them for all reasonable out of pocket expenses & do your best to limit them.
If they dont pay up, complain to ABTA/ATOL or money claim online.

They are in breach of contract.
