Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New equivalents of old kit?

Many many moons ago I had some rubber stretchy thingies that went on your ski boots making them less slippy to walk in and protecting the soles - since returning to skiing in the last 10 yrs Ive been hiring boots, so not bothered, but now Ive just bought some new boots, and I cant find them... they’ll be in the loft somewhere lol! any idea if such a thing is still made? tried googling but not seen anything.

Also in the 80s I bought some grand slalom skis -Fischer rc4 gs 185cm, skinny, loved them... I was almost a beginner so they were probably totally wrong for me but they worked. Again, for the past 10 yrs I’ve been hiring skis... carvers, much shorter... I never feel so confident on them as they dont seem to grip as well on ice, and they dont seem as fast so I do a lot more pole punting. This might be technique, or old age making me less adventurous, or ski shops giving me the wrong length? ... any advice... we are driving this year and seriously tempted to take the old ones lol! but seriously, what type of ski should I hire? I’m female, 5’9, weigh 16 stones and am unfit intermediate, happiest cruising blues and reds. I’d buy cheap 2nd hand ones if I knew what I needed as this year the hire is £80-90 as the resort we are going to only has 2 shops, so no price competition.
