Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi guys, looking for accommodation for one from Jan 20th for a week maybe two
I've never been before and I don't mind a walk or morning bus to the lifts.
Also any thoughts on xfr from Innsbruck?
With thanks John

Oh I should have said I am a cheapskate and looking for cheap and rustic rather than lavish, under 40 euro pn would be good but can pay more
And this is for one person

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Obergurgl is one of the expensive Austrian resorts but they do have some self-catering apartments facing the river.
Sorry, can't remember what they are called - Mannis??
If you don't mind a longish bus ride I imagine further back down the valley, perhaps Langenfeld, would be more within your budget - I know some of the ski resort instructors live there and commute each morning.

@Johnor, I think you'll find a week in Obergurgl is enough. I like it but the ski area isn't massive. If you're looking for a second week you could ski Serfaus/Fiss/Ladis from accommodation down in the valley at Ried.

Scamper, mitcva thanks for the links but no availability

Try Pension Michael - not quite as cheap, but very good value and comfortable, and just 100m from two main lifts:

Another good pension I have stayed in is Das Hochegg - almost ski in/ski out (about 70m from ski room to blue piste).

Of course, Obergurgl pass includes Solden (frequent free bus, 15-20 mins down the road)

You could also try zweiselstein which is halfway between Hochgurgl and Soelden. Haven't stopped there but it look like an attractive village, tho small. - maybe not so good if you were planning on partying in the Joslkellar until the wee small hours!

I always stay in Pension Hohenfels:

It’s close to the Festkogl gondola. Cheapest transfer is a public bus from the airport to train station, train to Otztal and another public bus to Obergurgl. You can check the train times on the OBB website.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

It’s a 90 min drive from the airport to Obergurgl. For one person, a private transfer is going to be pricey.
