Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bolle Nova II - Photochromic?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

I bought these a few weeks ago and off skiing on Saturday. I've had them in the dark then the light a few times and I've yet to see any darkening of the lens when they're in a well lit room etc.

The box says:

Nova II
Sku 21708
Color - matte black and white
Lens - PC MODULATOR VERMILION BLUE
Filter category - S1-2

Are these the reactalite type of lenses or just bog standard?

@marodo2712, they should react to light, but cat 1-2 are for poorer levels of visibility when there is not quite so much sunlight. A category 1-3 lens would be more noticeable I think. Bolle have a lens simulator on their website. https://www.bolle.com/us/techno-masques-ecrans

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You need to test them outside as glass in cars (and i assume houses) blocks the uv light that makes them change. Hence why reactolite lenses stay clear when driving.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the feedback.

I bought 1-2s believing that they'd be good in low/flat light, but that the photochromic affect would kick in when the sun was out and effectively make them 3+.

As it turns out, I'm off to Canazei on Saturday and it's looking increasingly murky.

They'll be fine. I have bolle vermilion gun rated as s2 and they're lovely in bright sunshine and coped well today in snowy gloom.
