Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi, there are no buses up from Bourg to Tignes on Sunday mornings in January 2019. Typical becuase that's when I need to get up there, on Sunday, January 27.
Does anyone know of people who live in Bourg who might be able to help out or can put me in touch with Bourg people. Would be much appreciated.
PLEASE HELP.
Thanks,
Andy

Well you could have a coffee and wait till the 1205 bus. Or try hitching, most people heading up the hill pick folks up, but if you have 2 bags and skis it tends to out folks off.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I often give people a lift if they are hitching, but as Chocks says, normally light luggage only.

Maybe take a peek at bla bla car (quite popular in France). Most offers of lifts are heading from Bourg out of the mountains but there are a few posts up already for BSM > Val d'Isere so Tignes must also be a possibility. If you put up a request then you might get lucky...

I still don't know my work schedule, but if all else fails, send me a pm on the 20/01.
We might be able to work something out!

Hi everyone. Many thanks for your replys and ideas, much appreciated.
I don't think hitching is viable beacuse I will have my skibag (with skis) with me.
So PLEASE, more ideas please ... I'd love to be able to ski on the Sunday before the Mon-Fri course.

If all else fails, you could try hitching - there are a lot of mini busses go up that road. I pick up hitch hikers in the Alps but I couldn't pick up a big ski bag in my car. If someone looked desperate I'd chuck them a rope to tie it on the roof bars.

I once drove up from Moutiers to Courchevel 1850 quite early on beautiful sparkling sunny morning and picked up 3 separate ESF instructors at different spots en route.....

I'm currently mid-hitch between Val Tho and Albertville. Ok, I've no major bag with me but I do have ed_sec and we have 2 pairs of skis and a couple of Avi-bags between us.
Took 5,maybe 10 mins to get a lift.
So I'd say hitch it and give someone the pleasure of company on their drive up the hill.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@adithorp, not sure there'd be much point: you barely have room in your gokart for a sandwich bag let alone a ski bag!
